This post is going to begin with last night...myself and several other team members were the recipients of a spectactular gift from God last night. I had been thinking about looking for something while I was in Jamaica. I have only seen this twice before and they were both while I was in Grand Cayman. I really wanted to get a glimpse of it while I was here. So, last night aroun 10 o'clock Jamaica time, I asked Jeff Reed to help me look for it. AND WE FOUND IT! Right outside the front door! If you're wondering what it is, it is CRUX, more commonly known as the Southern Cross. It is a star formation made famous by ship captains using it for direction. Hmmmm....using the cross for direction.... It was peeking over the mountain top big as life in front of the house we are staying at. It was just a reminder that Christ is with us ALWAYS. The rest of the team saw it tonight and were reminded the same, that Jesus' love for us is even written in the stars.
Now, as for today....
More fun with the most beautiful children you have ever seen! We also spent more intentional time investing in the teachers and they were wonderful as well. Beautiful people through and through. They were very interested in learning more about us as we are them and asked many questions. At our school in Golden Springs one of our teachers brought us two papayas from her tree. It was a very special gift and we will be eating them tomorrow for breakfast. They were also blown away to know that their pictures were on the internet and that people all over were praying for us and them.
As for work, we have come to love CEMENT! Everything is made from cement. Today, we spent some time spreading it on walls for a wall covering that will eventually be painted over. Some of the other team members spent time scraping on and in the church in preparation for a new coat of paint. It clearly had not been scraped in a long time.
We enjoyed two wonderful devotions today from Linda Creighton who spoke on 1 Corinthians 13 about love and then tonight from Jada Earl about trusting in God from Proverbs 3:5-6...you know the one....TRUST IN THE LORD! Yeah, that one.
PLEASE be in prayer for the team as tomorrow will be our last day with the children. NO ONE is looking forward to it, but we know it is coming.
And in case you were wondering how Doug and Martha celebrated their third anniversary, they did the same thing they did on their wedding day....celebrated communion. The team celebrated communion tonight Jamaican style.....with bread and coconut milk. Then we sang around the kitchen table HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD! And He truly is GREAT!
Now, on to tonight's team member posts....

This morning when I woke up, the first thing on my mind were the children at Golden Grove. Any thought of them brings the biggest smile to my face. I was so excited when we arrived this morning and could not wait to get in the school and start singing and doing crafts with the children. There is a girl, Tashana, with whom I’ve become big buddies with. When I stepped out of the van, I turned and looked towards the school and there was Tashana running full speed ahead. Before I could think, she jumped straight into my arms with her legs wrapped around my waist and her arms around my neck…and she wasn’t planning on letting go any time soon. This not only brought a smile to my face, but tears to my eyes. It was another reaffirmation of how big of an affect we’re having on these kids. Seeing them so excited to see us gives such an amazing feeling. It’s almost an indescribable feeling that I get when I see their smiling faces. God is definitely doing some amazing things in my life, as well as in the lives of the other team members, through the work we’ve been doing and the time we’ve spent with the children. Thank you for the prayers and the comments; it’s more encouraging than you know. We love you all.
P.S. Mom, Dad, and Loren- I LOVE YOU and MISS YOU!!!!!!!!

Wow! What an amazing adventure! As I look back on all that we’ve been through over the past couple of days, I sit here and smile and say to myself, “I would do it all over again.” God really is amazing! Working with the smaller group of children at Golden Springs has meant so much to me. Just thinking about them brings tears to my eyes right now, because tomorrow is the last day that we will get to spend time with them. I have made so many bonds with each of them through singing songs about Jesus to playing “Duck, Duck, Goose!” It was so funny – the other day one of the little boys went around and named each of us a duck and then right when he came to Linda, he said “Moose!” instead of goose! Memories such as these will forever be engraved into my heart. I have come to know their names and their smiles and I love them all. The work on the Beechamville Church is coming along great too. We’ve done a lot of paint scraping on the inside and picking up trash on the grounds. We’ve also helped with the cement process. I’d like to thank-you all for reading our postings and commenting on them. It is very much appreciated! Can’t wait to see my sweet hearts tomorrow! Lots of Love!
P.S. I’d like to give a shout out to my Life Team! I’d also like to thank all of you who have made this trip possible for me!! I love you Mama, Dad, J-d, Mariah, Austin, and Jordan! Miss you tons!

.......i can tell....God is in your heart......look for a sign.
I am so excited to see how God is working in each of your lives. It has been fun to read your journals and recaps of the day. I know it will be hard to say good-bye…it will be the most difficult part of the whole trip. Just remember that you will forever have friends in Jamaica. You have touched the lives of so many people and they will always remember the time they spent with you. The children will treasure the crafts they made with you. I guarantee you that they will keep the crafts close to their heart and will think of you everyday as they remember how each craft was made and the meaning behind it. Treasure each moment you spend with the people of Jamaica and don’t be afraid to show emotion as you say good-bye. Hugs and words of appreciation are expressions you won’t regret. You are in my continued prayers! ~ Jessica Lester
Gosh, I can't believe the week is almost over! I started crying when I read that this morning. I can not imagine how you all must feel. We are so proud of you here. Doug, when I came in to work this morning, one of the guys has prinited off your comment and photos last night and put them with those I had printed each day. See, you all are touching people here as well as there! Some of the guys couldn't understand why Doug would spend his vacation "doing that" but that's the guys that come in and ask me to pull the site up to check on him. You can see them softening when they see the children so proud of their craft project. Some of these guys don't attend church and this has been a great way to show them the love of God!!! I hope you have a great day, our continued prayers are yours.

Hello to all of you beautiful people! We just returned from 3 nights in Helen, GA relaxing in a cozy little cottage as a family. While we were there "roughing it,"I was reflecting on how spoiled we all have gotten in our lives and how much we take for granted on a daily basis. It's a beautiful thing when we can strip all of it away and truly experience real moments of sharing with another person, when we can genuinely share God's pure love with someone through an act of kindness, hug, smile, or even a sincere moment of eye contact with no words at all. I am so thankful for what you all are doing and who you are being there. You are making an impact in the lives of children and people who may or may not remember your name a year from now, but 20 years from now they will still remember the love that you gave them in God's name. Thank you for being vessels and for sharing the journey with all of us home based daily life missionaries! With Love, Joyce, Marc, Rebecca, and Emma Ahrens
"But those who HOPE in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
God has shown me this verse on 3 different occassions this week and I thought it would be appropriate as your week comes to a close. All of you have not only brought these children and adults Hope Church but a Kingdom HOPE!I pray He give each of you the strength emotionally to leave those precious children. Remember they will forever "soar on wings like eagles" because of the love of Christ you have shown them this week. My love to you all but MOST ESPECIALLY MURL!

It's harder to write to you all today . . . I certainly feel the emotions you are feeling as you prepare to leave these beautiful people. Believe it or not it tugs on our hearts here at home, too. Just remember you are planting seeds. Seeds that will grow and blossom. And seeds that can be visited again. This is just the beginning!!! You guys are so amazing and we are blessed to enjoy this experience with you. Savor those last moments and come home safely!!
Love ya,

Wow!!!
Well, the inevitable finally happened! I just finished from being in an emotional "fetal position" (that term is for you Michael). I am moved beyond words with reading, seeing & feeling the power of God working within this team, the church community and in Jamaica. We truly serve an awesome God!
On a personal note...Kaley, I could not be more proud of you and the woman of God you are becoming! I hope and pray you are able to experience the warmth and peace with your own children one day as I have as your father being a part of your life and experiencing this incredible journey to Jamaica via the blogs and pictures! Kaley, I love you so very much! And...I love you all!!!
See you all on Sunday!!

Hi to all!!! What a great week it has been! You all are doing such a great job and what a joyous job to have! I know today was hard for ALL of you - know that these children will always remember the kind things that you have done. I found a simple prayer today that fits perfect... I will not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing some have entertained angels without knowing it. (Hebrews 13.2) Just think...The angels are smiling :)

P.S. - Alan & Melanie - we love you so much!!!
What an AWESOME GOD we serve and that blesses us! I cannot tell you how happy I am that I attended the reception for all of you last Thursday night. Otherwise, I would not have known about this website and about the work you guys are doing for the Lord. My heart is so full of thanksgiving for our Jesus and for all of you. You all are in my prayers and I know God is so proud of each and every one of you.
Kaley, I am so proud of you and of the beautiful young lady you have grown into. Just know that you are one of the very few young people that proclaims to be a Christian and really lives for Christ. I love you so very much and I am so blessed that God let me be your grandmother. What you have experienced on this trip will be with you forever and God will bless you for the good work you are doing in His Name.
Miss you and can't wait to see you on Sunday.

It is moving to read and hear about all you guys are doing for the Lord! I know you have had some obstacles to overcome and you have been patient and persistent through it all! The word is spreading back home about "the Jamaican missionaries!" You guys are allowing God to do so much through you. Seeds are truely being planted.
Thank you for your obedience and your servant hearts. We can all learn so much from your love for God and your sacrifice for Him.
Thank you for teaching us!
See you soon!

Hey Team Hope2Jamaica,
I have tried to post comments almost every night since you have been gone and every time the site goes down...maybe this time. Each and every one of you guys is truly Jesus in the flesh for all the people in Jamaica and for many, many others back here also. The way you are making an impact on your coworkers, family, fellow students and friends is truly what we are called to be about. I feel like I know each of you personally (and I do many of you) from reading the postings. It has been so amazing and inspiring to see how God has worked in your lives and through your lives. Sinbad - love ya man! Keep on Rocking. Doug, Martha and Moogan - Jamaica is a long way from Cades Cove! Love you all also. Murl - you are my brother and I am so proud to be able to say that. Jeff - you rock buddy, I can't wait to see the pics. Linnie - love you too and keep 'Bad out of trouble. Jadia, Patty and who ever else from your clan is there - love all of you. I know I am missing someone but please, all of team Hope2Jamaica, please know that you are children of God, making your Daddy proud.
