PLANES, BUSES, BEETLES & GRECO'S PART 2

April 1, 2007 10:35PM

I realized I forgot to mention the beetles
and the greco's. Last night we found out
exactly how many beetles you can attract when
you leave the door open with the lights on -
LOTS!!! We also realized that greco's are as
comfortable inside the house as they are
outside! After an initial greco scare, we
have grown comfortable with their presents in
most rooms in the house.

And this just in..... We've just experience a
bug that when you squeeze its hiney, it
lights up on the side like a lighting bug!
God sure does create in an unique & wonderful
way! Read on from 2 Team members:

Laura Waggoner (Adult)

Hello everyone - we had an awesome day!!!!
The countryside here is so beautiful, the
locals are so friendly & welcoming. They
really appreciate us being here.

All of Gods creatures have been here to
welcome us - from goats, donkeys, beetles
and the largest greco ever!!! The mountains
& flowers are breath taking and I feel so
blessed to be here doing God's work in such a
beautiful setting.

I miss & love you all, I'm looking forward to
hearing from you. Mom - have the sweet tea
ready for me!! - Love Laura Waggoner

Linda Creighton (Adult)

Our 1st full day in Bensonton has been
wonderful! We woke up to semi-cool weather
and took a walk to church surrounded by
evidence of God's amazing creativity. Church
in Bensonton is not like church at Hope - as
far as the way the service goes and the songs
that are sung. Imagine our confusion when we
were told to open our hymnals!!!! Although
different it was very obvious that we worship
the same God, an amazing God who provides all
of our needs, rescues us, cares for us and
loves us beyond our ability to comprehend.

A precious moment to me happened when the 14
of us on the team went up to the alter to
take communion together. We were all on our
knees with our hands open in front of us
ready to receive the symbolic bread and wine
that represents the uncomprehenable love of
our Savior! As I looked at the beautiful
faces of each team member, I was reminded
that that same love is why each of us is
here. It was an amazing moment that I will
cherish forever.

Other things: We fond out today that a
Jamaican mile, which we were also told
equaled 8 furlong (whatever a furlong is) is
probably more like 1 1/2 to 2 miles in
America. It does not even seem that long as
you take in the beauty of the Jamaican
Mountains.

Jada: Winston Shanks has moved up here to
Bensonton and lives in the Manse - not out on
the porch.

Thanks everyone for your comments, they touch
our hearts and encourage us so much. Love
and hugs to each of you! Linda

I hope you guys have had another amazing day. How did VBS go? Did you just want to hug ALL the children? I can still see those beautiful smiling faces from last year's photos. They are so precious!

Emily: How many letters have you opened? People ARE watching you!

Martha: Keep those patches going; you can do it!

Kelli: Take lots of pictures and keep that journal going. Wish I was as good as you about journaling.

Michael and Linda: We love you guys and pray that God continues to give you peace about the upcoming transition. Enjoy the quiet times!

Molli: Lucky girl - no dishes! Yahoo!

Our sermon yesterday talked about investing. I couldn't help but think about you guys and hear the song (I think it's Nicole Nordeman ) about I want to leave a legacy. Thanks for investing in the people of Jamaica and choosing to make a Kingdom difference.

Love you guys bunches!

Hi Team Jamaica!

I am praying for you today. I know that you are probably tired from the business of day one, but God is with you. I am praying for strength and endurance for each one of you!

My dear sisters, Linda and Denise, I missed you so this weekend. It was so beautiful. It is such an exciting thought to know that our entire RG is serving God and others this week, from King's Retreat to Bensonton, Jamaica. I love you both so much. BTW, I am ready for a serious game of Claw Ball with my new gear!!

Love,
Lindsay

Hey, Team! We hope you are all having a great Monday! We're sure you have all made some great new friends.

Kelli & Molly - We really missed you today. We keep thinking about you and bugs knowing how you feel about them. Maybe when you get home you can be the designated bug killer 'cause you'll be used to them by then. :) Just don't bring home any snakes. You know how Mom feels about them! We love you!

We love the rest of you too...

Hi Jamaican Team,

Wow, what can I say! It's amazing to see how far God's hand can stretch from Hope Church! I know He is omnipresent and everywhere, but it's so cool to see how far His hand and love stretches from our church! You all are amazing! I cannot wait to see pictures. Why aren't there any posted? Come on! :)

Thank you for the investment not only in the lives you are touching in Jamaica but the lives you will touch here. I know you will bring back awesome stories...I can't wait to hear them firsthand.

Please give my love to everyone, especially Kelli who's from our Fusion small group. We love you, Kelli!!! Have fun and get a great tan! :)

Please list the names of everyone on the trip, so that I can specifically pray for them. I should know who's there with you, but I don't!

Look forward to more posts! You all are doing an amazing thing. God bless all that you do and may He keep you safe from those monstrous bugs! Buzz, buzz... :)

Love and hugs--Angie Tuttle

Okay - I can't resist.
..It's called a "GECKO".
..A furlong is 1/8 of a mile (220 yds). It sounds like they use nautical miles (2000 yds) as opposed to statute miles (1760 yds). Makes sense considering it's an island.
..Where did "April Fool" come from?
..Don't forget the "Kodak Moment".

No one really believes we were able to get the passports.

It's awesome that y'all are down there spreading God's word and being "Jesus with skin on" for them. Sometimes what seems like so little to us is so large to someone else.

I have the feeling that God is looking down saying "you make my heart smile".
